How it works

ClusterLion offers a physical appliance installed in both connected to each other through a mobile cloud connection and independent electrical circuit.

In case of detecting a fault in the cluster, the corresponding device will automatically cut the power in one of the data centers, facilitating the integral swtichover of Metrocluster, thus guaranteeing High Availability and avoiding the well-known case of "Split-Brain Syndrome".

Designed for special and exclusive use with the NetApp Metrocluster and therefore only available for NetApp Metrocluster expansion.

What happens if a fault is detected?

After the start-up...

The solution permanently monitors the power supply, interconnections, as well as selected services of the storage cluster.  If cluster services are suddenly affected by an outage, this is immediately detected and they will react accordingly.

As a first step...

ClusterLion disconnects the power supply of the affected cluster node and thus establishes a consistent state in the MetroCluster. In addition, it will provide a cluster node reboot. 

As a second step...

ClusterLion will provide notice of the transfer of cluster services to the live site through ClusterLion's own mobile phone connections.

Why is ClusterLion a hardware application?

ClusterLion was designed to be used completely independently of the existing infrastructure.

What are the installation requirements?

To install ClusterLion, we need 2 units in the rack and a cellular connection in the data center.

How long does it take to install ClusterLion?

ClusterLion can be added to a Metrocluster installation with minimal effort. ClusterLion is delivered pre-configured as a plug-and-play solution. It only takes a few steps to establish full operational readiness. The good thing is that any existing MetroCluster can be supplemented with ClusterLion without interruption.

How does the communication between the ClusterLion for Metrolcuster and the Quorum work?

ClusterLion is designed to be used independently of existing infrastructure. To do this, ClusterLion communicates through mobile communications, transmitting the information in encrypted form.
