How we do it

Restore Manager extracts information and metadata directly from the ONTAP® is able to index the differential changes of files in each snapshot and make a record of them. In this way, it creates a catalog" of snapshots and files that allows them to be later searched and retrieved in a granular way.

Regardless of the number of snapshots and files, we will have access to a catalog that will allow us to search, locate, and restore any version of any file, even deleted ones, in any snapshot, to any active volume.

How long does it take to install Restore Manager?

Like other ProLion solutions, the Restore Manager VM can be up and running from deployment in less than an hour. Once the VM has been deployed from the OVA template and powered on, installation is very simple. That is why we can be operational in such a short time. From the initial power-on of the VM, Restore Manager can monitor and protect your file data in less than 60 minutes.

What impact does it have on performance?

The impact on latency is minimal, as it is installed near or even in the same storage. With our general recommendations, there would be a latency of no more than 5ms between the Restore Manager VM and storage.

Can Restore Manager be combined with other ProLion solutions?

Restore Manager can happily coexist with other solutions. Restore Manager provides a library of snapshots and indexed files while enabling rapid recovery in a granular manner on-premises or in a third-party data center, whether on-premises or in the cloud.
